What is dropshipping?

Dropshipping is a retail method. You market a product, take payment, and a supplier ships it to the customer. You do not need to buy a pallet before the first order. You still need a store, an offer, and a way for people to find you.

What dropshipping is

You present products on your storefront at a retail price. When an order is paid, the supplier (or a fulfilment partner) sends the item to the shopper. Your margin is retail minus product cost, shipping, platform fees, payment fees, and any ad spend.

On AscenraDS, mapped catalogue products can be routed after payment when fulfillment is enabled and shipping details are complete. That is the operational version of the model, not a guarantee that any product will sell.

What dropshipping is not

It is not passive income. Customers ask questions, request refunds, and compare you with other shops.

It is not inventory-free in every sense. Someone still holds stock. If the supplier is out, your store should not pretend otherwise.

It is not a substitute for traffic. A live store with no visitors will report zero sales for honest reasons.

How money actually moves

The customer pays you. Your payment provider takes their cut. AscenraDS charges 2.5% + $0.30 per sale. Product cost and shipping sit on the supplier side of mapped catalogue orders. What remains can credit your payout balance after those costs.

Store credit from onboarding is separate. It pays for packs and add-ons. It cannot be withdrawn as cash.

FAQ

Do I need a warehouse?

Not for catalogue dropshipping. You still need a storefront and payment connection.

Do I need a business entity?

That depends on your country. AscenraDS is software, not a law firm.
